Exam results and bragging.

Summer is going by all to fast as I realise my first day of sixth form is going to start soon. What's even more nerve wrecking then going back to the same old school where there will be lots of new lost faces and work that's double the difficulty than it was at high school is the dreaded results day.

Less than a week from now I will be holding a brown envelope containing a letter that will either make me cry or smile. Of course i'm just kidding I wouldn't cry if i got bad results, probably. But I didn't straighten out my grades until I was in year 10, before then I didn't care less about what I got in tests.

However as I was growing up I found a new group of friends who did give a shit about school work, and as i'm very competitive i didn't want to be the stupid one so I tried harder and my school work improved significantly, turns out i'm not a complete idiot.

Anyway, it didn't really occur to me that i may have totally f'cked up my exams, i thought i would be okay but you can't always be so sure. I suppose it's okay that i didn't bother with school work until year 10 because that's when i chose classes, but if i was any later than that then i would of screwed up completely.

Something that does bug me though is those people who get their results then brag about how they "got an A* and i didn't even revise!" when the rest of us are working our arses off studying and not all of us are lucky enough to get those kind of grades. Sometimes life's a bitch isn't it? But what can you do but complain.

I used to be friends with a girl who would say things like that. Let's just say she is not very liked. The point is, no one likes a bragger, just shut up. Also if your friend looks kinda sad because she/he didn't get the grades they wanted, don't be like "aww, it's okay don't worry. Oh yeah by the way i got A's isn't that great?" No it's not when you put it that way stop fishing for compliments! And i have been on the giving and receiving end of that line and it does suck.

I guess I feel a little pessimistic today i'm sure thats not a surprise.

How to do magnetic nails.

First things first. Go out and buy a magnetic nail polish, it goes without saying.
Of course i don't particularly need to explain how to do it its pretty simple really, paint and hold the magnet over it and sometimes it may look quite good. What i'm doing is reviewing it.

I bought two magnetic nail polishes. One from an expensive nail company thats well known and one from a cheaper company. Some of you would probably prefer the more expensive company just for the name maybe. But honestly i hated the look it left on my nails.

It didn't work properly and it looked kinda weird, and when i decide to spent over £10 for a little bottle of polish i expect good results! Although i was disappointed with the results of that, i decided i would try again with a cheaper company.

This one did not cost me much at all, less than £5. Surprisingly this company worked much better than the last one i tried. I loved the look it gave me although the drying does take a little patience.

I still love the expensive brand though, maybe some of the other magnetic patterns would have looked better, I don't know.

The point is that sometimes just because it's a big name doesn't mean that it's better than the rest!

I'll put up pictures soon its a little late and to be honest i cannot be bothered to get out of my bed.

Olympics, Rubbish Weather and The Dark Knight Rises.

I'm not much of a sports person so when the olympics started i didn't expect to pay much attention to it, but seeing as many of my school friends are getting pretty into some of the events i couldn't help but jump on the band wagon and watch some events too.

However i believe some girls are just going to watch one event then not bother anymore, synchronised diving with Tom Daley maybe? Not that i blame them...

Tomorrow i'm actually going to London for three days, not for the olympics though, i'm going on a shoe making course. I'm going with my sister and it's for three days. It should be quite interesting actually, i'll report back.

It's july and the weather is totally disappointing! Maybe it will be like last year though when it was nice and sunny in october? English weather is so rubbish sometimes, i woke up to the sound of rain pounding down on the rooftops, a week ago it was really lovely and now it's horrible and cold.

I recently saw the new Batman film on the third day it was released, oh my it was probably one of the best film's i've ever seen in my life! It had great actors and a reaaaaally good storyline, sure it was long but i don't see why thats a problem? Most of the best films made are very long, such as The Godfather films, Shawshank Redemption. Those films are top on IMDb and are both over 2 hours. I personally don't like short movies, many rom-coms are about an hour and a bit and i don't enjoy them. I find them so predictable and they bore me, When i watched the dark knight rises though i was glued to my seat and i enjoyed every minute of it.

I plan to see it again actually, but this time i'm hoping i can see it in IMAX. I've never been to an IMAX screening before so i hope it's good!

Galaxy Nail Art.

I've tried and failed galaxy nail art many, many times. However, i've finally got it right after many months which i'm happy about because galaxy nails are so pretty and i've never been able to do it right before!

All you really need for it is a piece of foundation sponge and and glitter polish. I think the glitter polish is what makes it look good because i wasn't so sure it was going to look so good before i put it on. The trick to it is to blend the colours well and by not using too much pressure with the sponge.

The glitter polish i used was a limited edition Katy Perry O.P.I polish which came in a set of four. This colour is called Teenage Dream and i love it. Unfortunately the polish thickened really quickly so i can't really use it anymore. However O.P.I might still do it in bigger versions i'm not so sure!

The polish's i used were: Nails Inc: Hyde Park base coat, Nails Inc: Floral Street, Christian Dior: Lagoon, Topshop: Nail Art pens set of four in neon, Emily Nail Enamel: 03, Maybelline Express Finish Laquer: Onyx Black, Topshop: Peeping Tom, American Apparel: Sunshine State, Katy Perry O.P.I set of four: Teenage dream.

Prom time!

So one thing i've been looking forward to throughout the whole of my high school career is of course my high school prom!

Of course living in england means that the prom was not so extravagant and that some people didn't bother making such a big fuss about it. I've heard stories about dozens of limo's turning up and helicopters and girls getting surgery especially for prom but not at ours! It was just simple, in a beautiful park and we arrived gracefully in a 7 seater Mazda car which belonged to my friend's dad.

It may not be your cup of tea but I really enjoyed myself.

I did a dip dye type of nail pattern for my prom because my dress had a repeat pattern so i needed something simple to match it.

I love this type of nail art because in my opinion it does not take too long to do and looks great (if you do it right). You use a little sponge to put the pattern on and the trick to it is to not use too much pressure or polish. I usually break off a little piece of foundation sponge then hold it with tweezers. You may find another way that works better for you.

I always finish it off by putting glittery polish just at the tip of my nails, i just think it looks nice this way. Also i use two colours that are similar to each other so it fades in well, so a light colour and a dark colour. I probably didn't explain that well so for example in the picture i sponged on grey polish first then i did black on top and it faded in nicely. :)

Summertime

Hello little bloggers, sorry i haven't posted so recently but i've been busy and then my lovely old laptop broke! So now i'm having to learn how to use this new MacBook my parents bought for me.
So not much i've been doing recently, i have a few more nail patterns i still need to post and i will when i get time. I just haven't had this much time to just relax since my last school holiday months ago!

However i will try to make an effort to post more :)

Schooooool's nearly over...

Haven't posted in a little while because I've been so busy studying! At least my bad week is over, i will never again have to do maths, feels amazing! Although i do secretly enjoy it a little, but i don't think i would be able to handle A-level, do what you do best right?

I'm so exited to finish my exams, only four to go now. I'm most exited for summer, hopefully the weather will become nice and sunny and it will just be relaxed. I'm going to Milan for a week, no idea what it will be like but Italy is a beautiful country so i'm sure it will be nice.

Anyway here's a little nail design i did in my spare time, super easy and only took 10 minutes per hand, the left hand was easy to do too. I used an American Apparel glittery sequin polish which cost £9.00. I know it's quite expensive but it was so pretty i just couldn't help myself. i just put a drop of polish on a piece of paper and picked up the sequins with a pin and placed them on, it's easier than it sounds.

Nail pens and gems.

I do love nail pens; they make it easier to create lots of different patterns on your nails.

I recently bought two new packs from Topshop. The first one was £10 for the five colours, in my opinion I think that this is quite a suitable price for them! The second one i purchased was £11.50, less colours but they also come with little gems.

Altogether i think these were a good purchase because they are quick, easy and fun to use! I've posted a picture of a little pattern i did on a nail using the pens and the gems, just an idea of what you can do with them! i was quite happy with the result and people have given me little compliments about them. For a base i used Topshop nail varnish in gypsy night. This is really pretty colour, I would highly recommend if you like glittery polish.

How to do tribal nails.

Today i just spontaneously decided to do tribal nails, i've done this pattern many times before and if my favorite pattern to do on my nails!

I had purchased two new polish colours from Topshop a while back and I think they go well together so I used them. I know some people do some super awesome complicated patterns that make you go "wow!" but some of us don't have the time or patience so I simplified it.

The pattern you see was only done with the nail polish brush and a very thin one. Mine are from a Rio Nail Art set I purchased a while ago from Argos; it cost roughly around £25 for 8 different colours. however you can buy these from lots of other places, they sell some WAH nail art pens at urban outfitters for £6 each.

I did this pattern by first painting a base coat on then I painted the base colour of my nail with Jewel in the crown from Topshop. After that i used the polish brush to create thick lines on my nail as shown in the picture. I then used the thin silver brush to paint on the pattern. I finished off with a topcoat.

The trick to drawing on a pattern is to keep your elbows still and have patience! If you rush then you might make a mistake!

You can experiment with different colours and patterns, i just thought that this was simple and quick to do. Altogether it took me about half an hour per hand minus the drying time!

I'm not so happy with the middle finger but oh well, i'm only human they don't all have to be perfect!

Diamond Jubilee.

Yaaaay, it doesn't matter much to me but if it does for you then good for you!

Today i'm being made to go to a street party, cool right? Wrong! It is slightly drizzling which will turn into full on storm probably once i set foot out my house with my luck! Also it is nippy and i would much rather be snuggled up in my duvet with my PJ's eating a pastry whilst watching whatever rubbish is on telly this morning.

If it was nice and sunny like it was last week then i wouldn't mind going to a street party in my lovely little village but no it has to rain and be cold!

I was also forced to make some cakes as it is "bring your own picnic!". I was quite happy with them, sure you may think they're ugly but it is the taste that matters most! I'm also happy with how blue they turned out to be because usually it doesn't work when i colour cakes. I made the cakes blue because the colour theme is red, white and blue. I would of made icing for them too but it would of gotten messy in the box as i only just made them this morning so the icing would not of had time to dry.

Anyway, hope your day isn't windy, cold and rainy like mine!

Snow White and the Huntsman.

Today i felt like getting out of the house and away from all the revision I've been doing. Snow White came in to cinema's on Wednesday and I've been really wanting to see it!

My overall opinion of the film is amazing! I basically grew up on Disney films, you name it I've seen it. Snow white was one of my favorites, and i love how the film is more darker and so different. The special effects are just great and done wonderfully and i especially love Charlize Theron's character, her acting was brilliant too in my opinion!

Anyway i won't ruin it all for you and tell you all my favorite bits and details, go watch it for yourself!

I love Venice.

I'm not really a holiday person to be honest, i get easily homesick. However one holiday i loved and enjoyed the most was when i went to Venice.

Of course i came home with tons of souvenirs, about three Venetian masks and a couple of other little things. One of my favorite things that i came back with was a little trinket box which was hand painted and very pretty.

Today i was wondering what to do with my nails and i looked over at the little box and thought i'd make a design inspired by the pattern. I've always liked swirly patterns like these, unfortunately i wasn't too happy with this design but i thought i'd share it with you anyway, one day i'll try it again and hopefully i will do much better!

It's June already?!

The year has just flown by! It still feels like the first day of school was yesterday, and now it's all nearly over!

To be honest i couldn't wait for my last year of high school to be over, i wanted to get away from the people who don't try hard in their school work (this really infuriates me) and the way the year group was divided into different groups!

One thing i cannot stand in the classroom is people who just don't try, you only have one shot at life why are you wasting it?! They get bad grades in exams when they really do have the potential to get good marks and make something out of themselves. It makes me sad to think that when they are older they will be thinking "i regret not trying hard at school" because yes you really should have! I remember when i was young i used to think i couldn't be bothered with all this work, and the people i hung around with had that attitude too. Right now i truly wish i had tried hard so i could be better at things like Maths for example as i am in a low set for GCSE. However it worked out for me because i have the chance to get an A grade but i will just have to work super hard, however my teacher is the best and she is so helpful! I am so grateful for all the help she has given me.

Another bad thing about high school was that our year group was split into different social groups. I'm sure every high school does this but the annoying thing about mine was that the most "popular group" would strut around school thinking they were the best around. Not everyone in the group would act like that though, there were of course a few nice ones who treated each other equally but there were people who didn't which was upsetting to see sometimes. I felt sad when the mean girls would laugh at someone looking a bit geeky or whose skirt is too long, i remember someone telling me that the girls who look a little "nerdy" in school will grow up to be the beautiful and successful ones. I believe that's going to be true! I wasn't part of any group really if i'm honest, i was a very shy and quiet person, i am still a little today, i just kept out of everybody's way and had my own small group of friends, being popular right now isn't that important to me, i just really want to get good grades so i have no social life at the moment! In the end it will pay off.

Rain and ice cream.

Yesterday i was all snuggled up in my hoodie and some warm jogging bottoms, i read books, watched a film and actually got a decent amount of work done too!

I thought it was quite a good way to spend the day... But of course if i didn't have exams i would of done something a little more fun, for instance i would of maybe gone to the cinema with some friends to catch a new film or gone shopping. However school comes first so i did lots of work, it pays off though as i feel happy and proud of myself and i feel like i won't die in the exam now :)

As a reward though my lovely mother made me a nice glass filled with ice ream and strawberries for all the hard work i did. :)

For the record putting ice cream in a glass is much better then just eating it out a bowl. I don't know why it's just tons better and easier!

how do you spend your rainy days?

What to do on a rainy day?

Lovely weather doesn't last for long in England! It's my first real day of study leave and the sun has realized it's not in Spain and went away...

So what to do today? I guess i really should try and do some hardcore studying, my hell week of exams is coming up in about a week and a half! However you should never study too much or your brain will pop; the best way to study is to do it in small bursts. 45 minutes is the perfect amount of time then you should take a 15 minute break (I sometimes take an hour oops) and then you will get tons of work done!

I promise i will stop chatting about how much studying and work i have to do soon but hey ho. Goodbye for now!

First post!

Lots of work i should look over on this lovely sunny day!
Yesterday I left school for study leave and i am currently fretting over the 45 minute science exam I have to endure tomorrow afternoon. Although the majority of my high school memories are not so pleasant I am sad to leave; the thought of never wearing the itchy sweaters and pleated skirts is sad in a way but overall i am so exited to start sixth form college!

However i still have to finish off these horrible exams first, whilst most of my friends are doing about 10 I'm lucky enough to have 15. I'm slap bang in the middle of the exams at the moment so i only have 9 left to do, I wish that they were spread out more though as soon i get to do 5 exams in the space of 4 days, i'm calling it my hell week.

The thing i'm most scared about is forgetting everything right before the exam, for example I'm a history student, and a good way to earn marks is by saying the precise dates to show your own knowledge. I can remember a good few that, with my luck, are not going to come up in the exam. Remembering all the others are quite difficult and i'll get confused between them probably...

I'm searching for good revision techniques to remember them, in school my bio teacher taught me something called "pegging" that people use to remember large amounts of numbers, for instance people who cheat in casino's or memorize people's credit card numbers. In a way it does work as i can remember about 3/4 of the 15 digit number he gave the whole class to memorize so it must be okay to use for four digit numbers!
Here's what you do: create a story using the numbers so you remember them in the right order. So for example the number 542198 "there was a woman counting back from five but she forgot 3, but that's okay because she's 98" it's easier for your brain to recall the numbers this way, i don't know the science bit but it does work!
